What we hire
The projection rig, sized to your room.
Most Manchester business events need a 5,000+ lumen projector and a screen the back row can actually read. We size both to your room, set them up, align them, and stay on standby through the event.
- 5,000 to 15,000 lumen stand projectors
- Tripod or fast-fold screens up to 200″ wide
- HDMI cabling, signal boost and screen alignment
- Optional confidence monitor for the speaker
- Backup projector on standby for higher-stakes events
- Operator available for the day
Projector and screen packages from £180 dry hire. Larger conference rigs quoted per event.
Every attendee will clearly see, and clearly hear, every word of your event.
The promise on every event we ship out of Manchester. See how it works.
Which screen type should I hire? TV vs projector.
Two thirds of the time it is obvious. The rest of the time it comes down to room size, ambient light and budget.
TV screen hire
- Up to 80 inches
- Bright in any room, no blinds needed
- Plug-and-play, fast setup
- Best for boardrooms and small panel discussions
- Fixed size, single-screen feel
Projector hire
- From 80″ up to 200″+ wide
- Best in controlled-light rooms
- Scales to fit any conference hall
- Better for conferences, AGMs and gala dinners
- Lumens matter: 5,000 is the sensible floor
Projector hire comparison
Three rigs cover most Manchester events. Pick the one that matches your room.
Basic Short Throw
From £180
- 3,500 lumens
- Up to 80″ image
- Board meetings, small panels
- Tight-room install
HD Ultra Short Throw Most hired
From £350
- 5,000 lumens
- Up to 120″ image
- Conferences with some ambient light
- Sits close to the screen, no shadow line
Large Projector
From £650
- 10,000+ lumens
- Up to 200″ image
- Gala dinners, large conferences
- Backup projector available
Screen sizing, the rough rule
Bottom of the screen sits at least 4ft above the floor so the back row sees it over heads. Screen height is roughly the distance from screen to furthest viewer divided by six. So a 60ft room wants a 10ft tall image (which is ~200″ diagonal at 16:9).
Ambient light considerations
Windows behind the audience or directly on the screen kill projector image. Either pull the blinds, dim the front-of-house lighting, or move to LED. Rough lumens calc: 50 to 80 lumens per square foot of screen area is the floor for daylight-bright rooms.
Popular use cases
- Corporate conferences
- AGMs and shareholder meetings
- Panel discussions
- Gala dinners
- Brand activations
- Awards ceremonies
- School assemblies and speech days
- Weddings with slide tributes
How hire works with us
Four steps from first call to event day. No agency middlemen, no being passed around.
01
Free venue walkthrough
A senior tech from our team walks the room with you, in person, before quoting. We look at the audience, the format and where the kit needs to live.
02
Honest recommendation
A written spec, not a sales pitch. The kit that holds the see-and-hear guarantee for your room, plus the price you will actually pay.
03
In, tuned, ready
We arrive in your venue load-in window. Kit goes up, mics tested with you, levels set, screen aligned. Calmly.
04
On the day, with you
The same operator who walked the room with you. Watching levels, swapping mic batteries, handling the moments the agenda forgot.
Three ways to hire
Pick the level that matches your team and your event.
Dry hire
You collect, set up, run the event, return. For production companies and freelance engineers who already know the kit.
Delivered
We bring it, set it up, tune it, hand it over, collect it after. Your team runs the event. For in-house marketing and venue teams.
Operated Most popular
We bring it, set it up, and a senior tech stays on. Same operator your whole event. The level the team recommends for AGMs, panels and gala dinners.
Events we cover in Manchester

What our clients say
★★★★★
“Steven and James at ST AV provided the audio visual technology and support for an event. The event comprised of a hybrid session with some attendees in the room and some on Teams, as well as a panel discussion with 4 people on wireless mics plus a host with a lectern mic. It was a technically smooth and successful event.”
Olivia White
★★★★★
“I hired a projector from Steve for a small family event. He provided exceptional and very friendly service. Steve brought all the equipment, set it up and gave very clear instructions on how to use it.”
Urooj Aizad
★★★★★
“Steven was really helpful in sorting out our AV requirements for an exhibitor stand at a 3-day conference in Manchester. Got us all set up, and tested the equipment. We had a great conference.”

Frequently asked questions
The questions we hear most from Manchester event teams.
How much does projector hire in Manchester cost?
Stand projector + tripod screen starts at £180 dry hire. Operated packages with a full HDMI setup, confidence monitor and backup projector start around £500.
What size screen do I need for my room?
Rough rule: the bottom of the screen sits at least 4ft off the ground, and the screen height is roughly 1/6 of the distance from the screen to the furthest viewer. We confirm the right size on the walkthrough.
Can you handle a projector for an outdoor event?
Indoor only. For outdoor brand activations and product reveals we use indoor LED video walls inside a covered structure.
Do you supply HDMI and signal cabling?
Yes. Standard signal cabling and adapters are included. Long runs (over 25m) we boost with HDMI extenders.
Can you provide a backup projector?
Yes. Available on every operated package and on request for delivered. Stays cabled and rigged but powered down until needed.
Do you operate the kit or just deliver?
Both. Delivered is most common for projection. For larger conferences with multiple screens, Operated is the safer call.
