Let’s Talk About AV Hire Costs, In Manchester | Lancashire & Cheshire
(By the way, audio visual hire prices in Manchester, Lancashire & Cheshire, are usually a bit different from the South East and London. So if you’re based down south, and you’re travelling up for an event – firstly welcome! And good news: you may find you can make things happen a bit easier up here).
If you’re organising a business event, AV isn’t a cost – it’s an investment in making sure your people see and hear your words and content.
Okay sure, on a balance sheet, AV will likely be displayed as input “cost” to doing the project yes. And the phrase “what’s the cost?” is just one of those things people say.
But don’t make the mistake here – of being too cheap with sound, screen and stage hire – that’s super likely to result in a poorer event.
Most event AV providers in Manchester offer equipment hire across a range – starting from lower quality lower price – through to higher quality higher price.
Limitations With Price Lists
To put it plainly: price list from AV providers can help event organisers yes. However there are limitations. Frankly, how useful a price list is going to be depends on how much you know about AV equipment.
My worry for you, if you’re not experienced with audio visual equipment, is that you might look at the above downloadable price list, and see (for example) that there’s a lapel aka “lav mic” or “tie mic” that you says you can hire at £5.30 + VAT per mic.
So if you hired that product, does that mean that’s it – you’re sorted and ready to go?
(Sorry, of course that was a loaded question from me!)
Of course that’s not it.
Firstly: You’ll need a wireless belt pack transmitter, and receiver. And then, unless your venue has a sound mixing desk, and speakers, you would need to hire those as well.
Secondly: that is the cheapest lapel available. It’s okay, but by no means the most natural sounding option available why is “natural sounding” really important? In a presentation, there’s little more off putting than someone than feedback (that squeaking and squealing), and someone’s voice that sounds odd compared to how they usually sound naturally.
Authentic human to human connection is what live events are really about.
And if there are multiple microphones, the more natural sound will come from the more expensive microphone, (which is this example is a DPA, at £11.40 + VAT per mic (again also requires the belt pack transmitter and receiver).
